Calling all educators! National Green Week 2012 is right around the corner! Over six million students are enrolled in this year’s event! GEF is looking to surpass the results of NGW 2011 in which over 100,000 lbs of trash (in just 5 days) and tens of thousands of dollars in utilities bills were saved. The objective is to spotlight sustainability education for at least one week between February 6 and Earth Day, April 22. Participation is free and schools can compete for a multitude of prizes and cash awards—national results are posted on GEF’s site on Earth Day. To learn more visit: www.greeneducationfoundation.org

GEF has the curriculum, programs, and support you need to bring high-quality sustainability education to your classroom and community. Now, GEF has the resources to help you earn academic credit or CEUs while building your knowledge and skills around sustainability education.

Sustainability Education is more than being environmentally friendly. Sustainability Education takes a holistic approach to learning that incorporates environmental, economic, and social perspectives to frame children’s experiences in the classroom and community. Our goal is to help you integrate sustainability into your existing curricula by developing all levels of national standards based lessons to be used as supplements to individual lessons or as stand-alone, semester long, programs of study.
